What Standfile is

Standfile reads the Companies House public register and explains what it says about a company, then watches it and tells you when it changes. It is provided by Jonathan Durban, London, United Kingdom.

What Standfile is not

It is not a credit reference agency within the meaning of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, and the score it produces is not a credit reference agency score. It is our own reading of published information.

It is not a prediction of insolvency and must not be relied on as one. We have tested how well public filing data predicts company failure and the honest answer is: not well enough for anyone to claim otherwise.

It is not financial, legal or accountancy advice. If a report says a filing is overdue, act on the filing — do not treat our summary as a substitute for your accountant or your own reading of the register.

Accuracy

Everything we show is derived from the Companies House register. Where that register is wrong, incomplete or out of date, our report will be too. We read it carefully and correct our own mistakes quickly, but we cannot warrant that public data is correct.

Decisions about credit, contracts or anything else are yours. Take them on the underlying record, which we link to on every report.

Your account

Sign-in is by emailed link; keep access to your email address secure, because anyone with it can reach your account. You may not resell access, scrape the service, or present our reports as another provider’s work. Reports you send carrying your own practice name are yours to send to your own clients.

Paying, and stopping

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. Cancel whenever you like and the plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for; we do not refund part-months. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends — your book, your history and every report you have sent stay where they are, and monitoring simply reduces to what the free plan covers.

Liability

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for business losses — lost profit, lost contracts, or decisions taken on the strength of a report — and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, which cannot be limited.

Changes and law

We may change these terms; material changes will be emailed to account holders before they take effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
